Belinda Dalton
Hailing from the small town of Berry on the NSW South Coast, Belinda has been passionate about opera since the age of 16. In 2008 she moved to Melbourne to study at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium of music, from which she emerged with a BMus Hons and a Masters, both in classical voice. During her time there she was heavily involved in operas staged by the Early Music Studio and studied both German and Latin avidly. Since then, Belinda has performed with companies and theatres including Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, Black Hole Theatre, Melbourne Opera, XL Arts, Savoy Opera and Chamber Made Opera. Her repertoire includes the Mother/Witch/Fairy swing and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel with OA Schools Company), Woodsprite 1 (Rusalka), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Mabel (Pirates of Penzance), and Bridesmaid 1 (der Freischütz), as well as the choruses of Nixon in China and Acteon. In concert Belinda has made numerous Australian and world premieres by composers such as May Lyon and Andrew Aronowicz. She values community engagement highly, and has performed with community orchestras including the Shoalhaven Youth Orchestra and the Frankston Music Society. Belinda is currently based in Sydney, and as an obsessive seamstress is probably wearing something she made herself.
