BK Opera presents a bold reimagining of the song recital in a semi-staged concert performance at the intimate Eleventh Hour Theatre in Fitzroy.
The program of 19th and 20th Century German and Austrian repertoire explores the transformation of tonal harmony, from the harmonic innovations of Richard Wagner’s 19th Century operas to the radical 20th Century opera Lulu by iconoclast Alban Berg. Emerging sopranos Teresa Ingrilli and Belinda Dalton and pianist Sung Won Choi perform 19th and 20th Century German and Austrian repertoire including Richard Strauss lieder, Franz Liszt's piano arrangement of Richard Wagner’s Liebestod (from his opera Tristan und Isolde) and Alban Berg’s Altenberg Lieder and Lied der Lulu.
