Beth Paterson

Beth is a multi-versed theatre maker with a fascination for Opera, Cabaret and Musical Theatre. Beth’s eclectic theatrical endeavours have seen her performing and working in venues as varied as shipping containers to The Athanenum, from roaming street performance to Hamer Hall, and abandoned buildings to The MTC.

In addition to working on La Traviata, Beth is currently undertaking her final year at Monash University, and has been busy writing and rehearsing her third solo cabaret which will be debuted as a part of the 2017 Monash Uni Cabaret Festival. This follows on from the highly successful debut of her 2nd cabaret at Chapel off Chapel as a part of the 2016 Cabaret Showcases, which was curated by Melissa Langton and Mark Jones.

She recently had the absolute pleasure of taking part of a 3-week tour of Europe as a chorister with MUCS under the baton of Andrew Wails, where she sang in churches such as the Nikolaikirche in Leipzig and Saltzburg Cathedral. Beth is a regular solo caroller with the Salvation army, and has taken part in Christmas fundraisers across the city and on live radio.

Some additional selected performance credits include Roberto Zucco (Dir. Mark Pritchard), Nightmareville, The Wild Party, Yeoman of the Guard(Kate), HMS Pinafore (Cousin Hebe), The Mikado (Pitti-Sing) and The Tales of Hoffmann (Cochenille). During her time at Monash, Beth has been involved in the writing and staging of 2 new musicals, Aesop’s Fables and Ovid’s Metamorphoses (Dir Matthew Lockitt), which debuted with enormous success in October 2013 and October 2015. Beth is tremendously excited to have the opportunity to sing the role of “Flora” in BK Opera’s production of La Traviata. This is Beth’s first time working with BK Opera, and is thrilled to be sharing the stage with such a wonderful team of people.
